AI Fundamentals

The Educator AI Competency Framework is a roadmap for educators to develop their skills and knowledge while integrating AI in education. This framework describes five AI educator personas, from Incidental User to Value Creator, detailing the key competencies and typical activities associated with each. As educators advance their competencies, they adopt personas that progress from basic awareness and occasional use of AI tools to actively integrating AI into their practices and ultimately creating new AI-driven solutions that enhance educational outcomes. The framework emphasizes technical proficiency, the importance of responsible AI use, collaboration and leadership, and the potential for AI to impact student success when leveraged responsibly by skilled educators. The framework is not intended to illustrate a rigid path of progression but a flexible one that allows educators to adapt and grow as their needs, objectives, and roles in education change. As AI continues to evolve and shape the educational landscape, this framework will adapt and serve as a valuable guide for educators seeking to effectively integrate AI into their professional practice and drive positive change in education. This particular course is the culmination for the Teacher / Instructor /Instructional Designer, Persona 1 or Incidental User. It is the best place for teachers/instructors/instructional designers to start working through the Framework.

This is the final course in a series of six that demonstrates the competencies outlined in the AI Fundamentals for Educators and Content Creators Certificate.
